How can get more pressure out of my submersible well pump?
Can I add air to the tank, or is there another way?
You should set the pressure on the system to the maximum allowed. The pressure switch that controls it is adjusted with a screw or hex bolt. As you turn it clockwise it causes the pump to stay on longer and increase the pressure in the tank.
Before you do this, you should find out how much pressure is allowed on the tank.
Also, the tank's designed to hold a certain amount of air. Some tanks have a valve similar to the one on a cars tire. You use a normal tire air gauge to determine how much pressure there is when the tank is completely empty. If you put 30 psi of air in an empty tank, your water pressure will be steady and your pump will not cycle constantly.

If you can't get the pressure increase you want by putting the correct amount of air in the tank (the air gradually bleeds out and needs to be put back in ocassionally) or increasing the setting on the pressure gauge, you could install a booster pump and motor.
