Jebo Small

easy filter & light questions?

1. i am worried my axolotls small internal filter is make strong current that is stressing him out. how can i slow it down

2. if you have a good canister filter that will filter your hole tank through like 20 times an hour. can this be a bad thing in any way if the current is not to strong.

3. what filter media do you like to use and why.

4. i am buying a jebo tank with inbuilt hood and lights/filter etc
what type of bulb will it have and what type do i buy to replace it

1. Depending on the model of filter you can fill it with more media, if you havn't already you could add the spray bar attachment on or you can add an attachment that directs the flow up.

2. Providing the current is not too strong it will be fine. However i see the current being a big problem unless you have multiple outlets.

3. In most of my filters i use a course sponge as the first section, a finer sponge in the second, some ceramic noodles in the third and then some special media in the last section (Purigen, a phospad, matrix etc). It really depends on the tank. I use this combination as the course sponge removes larger particles, the finer sponge removes nearly everything else and then by the time the water hits the noodles its free of floating particles and just needs the bacteria to do its bit.

4. I would avoid buying a Jebo tank. I've heard reports from numerous people that they are prone to the front pane of glass breaking free and cracking. I would opt for an aqua nova (Which in australia at least have been modified alot in the recent year) or an aqua one. Both seem very reliable. regarding the bulb. It depends on the style of tank. Most all in one tanks use regular fluorescents (Unless they are a smaller model tank). These are available at all aquariums.
