filter pads????

what is the best filter pads / filter floss. I bought a reausable cartrige for my power filters that is a clamshell design and i need to order some filter sheets (something i can cut to fit). I have the blue bonded pads but i need something that filters finer particles than those. Also what is the difference between 50 micron and 100? could you give me the website i can order them from? and one more thing should i use the coarse pad before the fine one? there emperor 400's

Haven't used them but this is the sort of store you need to look for, alternatively go to your local aquatics shop and ask them they are always more than happy to order stuff in (My fav retailer is Maidenhead aquatics (if you are in the UK - all the staff know what they are talking about!
The basic difference between 50 micron and 100 is: 100 micron filters can filter out particles twice the size that a 50 micron can.To explain more fully a micron is a unit of length equal to one millionth of a meter (a micrometer) so a 100 micron filter can remove particles 100 millionth of a meter whereas 50 micron will only filter particles 50 millionth of a meter. To give you an idea of sizes, tobacoo smoke is 0.5 micron, bacteria is 2 microns, talcum powder is 0 microns and the diameter of the average human hair is 70 microns.

The way the filters should be put in depend on where the water is first filtered into, so for example if the water hits the top filter first this should be the medium with the biggest holes and then each medium should be put in dependant on the size of the holes in the medium. If the water is fed through the top but there is a tube in the filter which feeds it to the bottom first the medium with the biggest holes should be at the bottom (I hope that makes sense).
