Which place is better to live: Fort Myers or Cape Coral, Florida?

My family is moving to Florida in April. We were going to live in South Fort Myers, but it looks cheaper to live in Cape Coral. I want a nice, safe place for my kids to live and play. I also want to be as close to the beach as possible. It looks like the Cape is only 25-30 minutes to the beach. What do you think?

i'm a teenager & i've lived down here all my life. if you want to know what's safer, then you definitely want fort myers. cape coral actually has more old people than ft. myers! also, cape's beaches are the worst beaches in southwest florida. people who live in cape coral go to ft. myers for the beach! fort myers is way closer to the beach! you can go to ft. myers beach for example, or sanibel. there IS a reason why it's cheaper to live in cape coral...it's a rough town.
i'm not saying there aren't rough parts in ft. myers either, but a lot of my friends live in the cape and they hate it. high crime. and it's not closer to miami at all?? miami is on the EAST coast. don't listen to all these tourists icon wink Cheap Live Coral
