What would be the best way to heat a tank of tropical fish?

I want to create a pond for Malawi should maintain the pond cichlids.I was about 80 degrees when the outside temperature equilibrium between 40 A 65'ish. I saw the "hot pond" but retain a small area of the lagoon to freeze to allow gas exchange. the pond in question must be less than 1000 liters, with a map of 10x4x2 feet.

Can the aquatic plant Cabomba grow free floating? or does it have to be planted under substrate?

I have a few roots of Cabomba in my aquarium but branches of it keeps getting broken off by the fishes. Should I re-plant those broken branches under the substrate or does this plant grow free-floating as well?

There are two plants...one is cabomba and another one that is similar and more bushier. If they have roots after the fish break them,they can be replanted and will grow again. If they have no roots it wont matter because they will keep on growing,but you will have to wrap a thin strip of plant lead at the bottom or they will float to the top.
